All three major stock markets saw a decrease today including the Dow Jones, NASDAQ and S&P 500 Indexes. These decreases represent a variation in stock prices with numbers rising and falling frequently throughout the day before hitting their ultimate closing prices.

The Dow Jones reported a decrease of 130.4 points, representing a decrease of 0.47%. This reflects a year-to-date decrease of 2.23%. Over the past 5 days, the Dow Jones has reported an increase of 1.33%, with the one month average up 0.20% and the three month average up 6.99%. The stocks opened at 27,834.18 before hitting a daily high of 28,056.79 and a daily low of 27,647.93. They represented a closing number of 27,901.98.

Top earners for the Dow Jones were UnitedHealth Group Inc (UNH), 3M Co (MMM), International Business Machine Company (IBM) and Boing Company (BA). Their biggest losers for the day were Chevron Corp (CVX), JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM), Proctor & Gamble Co. (PG), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) and Salesforce Com. Inc. (CRM).

 

The NASDAQ reported a decrease of 140.19, representing a decrease of 1.27%. This reflects a year-to-date increase of 21.60%. Over the past 5 days the NASDAQ has reported a decrease of 0.09%, with the one month average down 1.97% and the three month average up 9.73%. The stocks opened at 11,222.08 before hitting a daily high of 10,974.45 and a daily low of 10,783.81. They represented a closing number of 10,910.28.

Top earners for the NASDAQ were 1895 Bancorp of Wisconsin Inc. (BCOW), 51 Job Inc. (JOBS), 111 Inc. (YI), 1347 Property Insurance Holdings Inc. (PIH) and 1-800-Flowers.com Inc. (FLWS). Their biggest losers for the day were 10X Genomics Inc. (TXG), 1Life Healthcare Inc. (ONEM), 2U Inc. (TWOU), 89 Bio Inc. (ETNB).

 

The S&P 500 reported a decrease of 28.48, representing a decrease of 0.84%. This reflects a year-to-date increase of 3.91%. Over the past 5 days the S&P 500 has reported an increase of 0.53%, with the one month average down 0.74% and the three month average up 7.76%. The stocks opened at 3,346.86 before hitting a daily high of 3,375.17 and a daily low of 3,328.82. they represented a closing number of 3,357.01.

Top earners for the S&P 500 were General Electric (GE), Occidental Petroleum (OXY), Tapestry (TPR), and TechnipFMC (FTI). Their biggest losers for the day were Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG), Allstate (ALL), Facebook (FB), Welltower (WELL), and Xcel Energy (XEL).
